Venice, is an amazing place to say the least. Lets be taken there by Thomas’ and enjoy the journey.

Planning a trip to one of the most intriguing and inspiring cities in the world? Venice, Italy is that city and also is known as a city full of romance and history. The city allows no cars and the streets that meander along the canals are perfect for exploring. You will find that there are 150 canals in Venice and there are also more that 400 bridges that connect 117 pieces of land.

When you plan to come to the city of Venice you may want to take the train. The Santa Lucia Train Station is located on the north western edge of the city. You could also take a bus but it is not as convenient. Remember when packing for Venice that there are no taxis or cars so keep the packing to a minimum and make sure you use travel bags with wheels for ease of travel.

Walking is one of the best ways to see Venice. If this is not an option for you, never fear, you do have other choices. Travel by boat is a possibility and it is also an fairly inexpensive way to get around. The vaporetti is the same thing as a boat or ferry and it is a great way to manoeuvre the canals. Using this mode of transportation allows you to stop at many different places so you can see lots of attractions. If money is not a consideration you may want to travel by water taxi or gondola.

If you are shopping in Venice there are some things you should definitely have on your list. Venice is known for its Venetian glass, especially the glass that comes from the island of Murano. Lace and marbled paper are a few of the specialties you will find in Venice. You may also be interested in the many watercolours of Venetian scenes that are for sale and the Carnevale masks are great for souvenirs or gifts.

When you are ready to do some sightseeing, head to San Marco Square. Here you will find the main square of Venice. This square is surrounded by sidewalk cafes and fun and fancy shops. This is a place where you will pay top dollar to sit outside. In the evening you can eat while listening to live music. This is also a lovely place to take photos.

There are gorgeous buildings and a great variety of boats on the Grand Canal. This is the central thoroughfare of the city. The Rialto Bridge is the main bridge that crosses the Grand Canal and it is over 400 years old. For those gourmet cooks, the Rialto Market is the place to find some unique foods.

If you enjoy museums you should stop at the Galleria delAccademia which is one of Italy’s best museums. There are 24 rooms located in 3 historic buildings. There are often many people who want to visit this museum so it is best if you arrive early.

Don’t forget about the ice cream in Venice. Some say that Italy has the best ice cream in the world. It would be sad to leave Venice without trying at least a few kinds.
